Mark, Bid and Ask — Displayed vs Executable Spread
Read entry and exit prices, account for slippage and check quote freshness.
Price types
Mark is an exchange reference price. Ask is the best displayed selling quote a buyer may start filling against. Bid is the best buying quote for a seller. Last is the most recent trade price, which may be older.
Entry and exit
Opening a long uses Ask as a reference; opening a short uses Bid. Closing reverses the sides. A large order can consume multiple book levels, so the best quote does not guarantee a fill for the whole size.
Check the data
Inspect each quote timestamp. Without Bid/Ask, Mark comparison can support research but cannot confirm execution. Daily turnover is not liquidity at your intended price.
